Bergfelde

Hohen Neuendorf

Named after Bergfelde, a village first recorded in 1349.

Bergfelde, today part of Hohen Neuendorf, appears in a deed of 1349 as ‘Bercholtz’; the literature also calls it Berkow or Birkholz. In 1653 Elector Friedrich Wilhelm gave the village to his wife, Luise Henriette of Orange. Bergfelde only got its S-Bahn station in 1962, when the gap on the outer ring between Blankenburg and Hohen Neuendorf was closed after the Wall was built.
