Named after the Rummelsburg railway yard (‘Betriebsbahnhof’ = depot).
Rummelsburg takes its name from the wine merchant Johann Jakob Rummel, who bought a dairy farm by the lake, turned it into an inn and called it Rummelsburg. The marshalling yard opened on 1 September 1879. Its halt on the suburban tracks was at first only for the yard’s workers and opened to all passengers in 1948. Today the depot mainly services long-distance trains.
