Buckower Chaussee

Marienfelde

Named after Buckower Chaussee, the old road to the neighbouring village of Buckow.

This ‘Chaussee’ (high road) is the historic route from Marienfelde to Buckow. Buckow’s name probably comes from a Slavic field name, buk (red beech), taken over by German settlers; the village was first recorded in 1373. The station opened on 15 May 1946 as a makeshift stop when suburban trains returned to the line after the war.
