Named after BER, the airport Berlin Brandenburg ‘Willy Brandt’.
BER is the airport’s IATA code, which had already served as the code for Berlin’s airports as a whole. When the airport opened in 2020, the old Schönefeld terminal stayed in use as ‘Terminal 5’, so this station was called Flughafen BER Terminal 1-2. After that terminal closed in 2021, it was renamed simply Flughafen BER in December 2023.
