Frankfurter Allee

Friedrichshain

Named after Frankfurter Allee, the old road towards Frankfurt (Oder).

Laid out in 1708 as a military road, it was called Frankfurter Chaussee from 1824 and Frankfurter Allee from 1872. For Stalin’s 70th birthday in 1949 it was renamed Stalinallee, and the station with it; in 1961, during de-Stalinisation, this section got its old name back. The first stop here, opened in 1872, was called Friedrichsberg after the nearby colony of that name.
