Hohenschönhausen

Neu-Hohenschönhausen

Named after Hohenschönhausen, the ‘upper’ Schönhausen.

The village was founded in the first half of the 13th century; its settlers probably came from Schönhausen in the Altmark. In the 14th century ‘Hohen’ (high) was added to set it apart from lower-lying Niederschönhausen. The station opened in 1984 for the new Hohenschönhausen II estate, today Neu-Hohenschönhausen.
