Named after Jena, a city in Thuringia.
The street was named in 1987. Several streets in the area are also named after towns in Thuringia, such as Hermsdorf, Gotha and Eisenach. One of the two entrances to the Schleipfuhl nature reserve is on Jenaer Straße.
