Neu-Westend

Named after Neu-Westend, the residential quarter built here after 1905.

Westend was planned as a villa colony and named after London’s elegant West End. After 1905 the Neu-Westend company developed a 130-hectare site around Reichsstraße and persuaded the Hochbahngesellschaft to build a U-Bahn line into the area. This station was prepared in 1908–1913, but because of the First World War it only opened in 1922.
