Named after Prenzlauer Promenade, the road to Prenzlau, and Am Steinberg, a low hill.
Prenzlauer Promenade is the main road out of the city towards Prenzlau; this stretch was called Uckermarkstraße, after the region it leads to, until 1912. Am Steinberg (‘at the stone hill’) is named after the Steinberg, a gentle rise also called the Heinersdorfer Berg. The northern part was named in 1925, the southern part in 1936.
