Named after Schloßstraße, the ‘castle street’ leading to the Steglitz manor house.
Schloßstraße is part of the old road from Berlin to Potsdam. On 18 April 1871 the council of the then independent village of Steglitz renamed its stretch of the highway ‘Schloßstraße’ after the Steglitzer Schloss, a manor house at the end of the old village green. Because it later became the country seat of the Prussian field marshal Friedrich von Wrangel, it is also called the Wrangelschlösschen.
