Rathaus Steglitz

Named after the Rathaus Steglitz, the neo-Gothic town hall across the road.

The red-brick town hall was built in 1897/1898 for the rural municipality of Steglitz and inaugurated on 22 March 1898, the birthday of the late Emperor Wilhelm I. In 1901 Karl Fischer founded the Wandervogel youth movement in its cellar restaurant, the Ratskeller. The U-Bahn station opened in 1974; the S-Bahn station took the same name in 1992.
