Elm Park

Havering

Named after Elm Farm, one of the farms replaced by a 1930s garden city.

The name Elm Park was devised in 1933, when the builders Richard Costain and Sons bought Wyebridge, Elm and Uphavering farms for Elm Park Garden City. Elm Farm is first recorded in 1777 and was known as Elms in 1883. Costain negotiated with the railway for a station, which opened in 1935.
