'Iver' probably comes from the Old English for the brow of a hill.
In the Domesday Book of 1086 the area was recorded as Evreham, the 'homestead by the brow of a hill', held by a man called Robert Doiley. An alternative but unverified explanation links the name to Roger de Iveri, who came to England with William the Conqueror. The station stands in Richings Park, part of Iver.
