'Kingsbury' means the king's fortification, or the king's manor.
Which king is lost to history. The early English kings had parted with their manor of Kingsbury long before the Norman Conquest. By 1066 it was held by Wlward White, a thegn of Edward the Confessor, and at the time of the Domesday Book in 1086 the land was in private hands.
