Place de France

Belair

A square named after France.

It lies where Belair, Hollerich and Merl meet, on national road 5, which changes its name here from Avenue du X Septembre to Route de Longwy; seven streets meet on the square. During the German occupation (1940–1944) it was called 'Maximilianplatz'. We have not yet found out when the square was named after France.
