Named after Robert Bruch (1920–1959), linguist.
Born in Bonnevoie, he studied Germanic and Romance philology, was forcibly conscripted into the Wehrmacht and held in a prison camp at Tambov. Back home, he became the youngest member of the new Luxembourgish dictionary commission. His main work, on the history of Luxembourgish, appeared in 1953; he is one of the country's best-known linguists abroad. He died in a car accident at 39.
