'Rocade' is French for a bypass road.
The stop serves the Bonnevoie side of the central station, behind the tracks, on the road called the Rocade de Bonnevoie. Historically the station itself stands in Bonnevoie: in 1858 its site was fixed outside the fortress, in the Bonnevoie section of the then commune of Hollerich. Since 2021 a 196-metre footbridge over the tracks has linked the Gare quarter with Bonnevoie.
