Named after Hildegard of Bingen (1098–1179), German abbess.
A Benedictine abbess and one of the best-known women of the Middle Ages, she wrote theological, botanical and medical works and composed music for the liturgy; more of her chants survive than of any other medieval composer. Venerated as a saint for centuries, she was named a Doctor of the Church in 2012. A street in Gasperich bears her name.
