The name recalls the Henri Funck brewery.
Henri Funck founded the Funck-Schamburger brewery in 1864, and it gave a big push to Neudorf's economic development. Beer was brewed here for more than a century, and the brewery remained a major employer in the district. In 1982 the 'Ancienne Brasserie Henri Funck' was bought by the Brasseries Réunies; production stopped at the end of 1983. Part of the old brewery was later turned into a hotel.
