Named after the cour Saint-Émilion, a lane of the old Bercy wine warehouses.
Saint-Émilion is a wine appellation of the Bordeaux region. The station was first to be called Dijon, then Pommard – Saint-Émilion, after the nearby rue de Pommard too, so that neither Burgundy nor Bordeaux would be favoured in their old rivalry; in the end only Cour Saint-Émilion was kept. The lane and its old wine stores date from around 1880.
