Am Schöpfwerk

Meidling

Named after the street Am Schöpfwerk, ‘at the pumping station’.

The street was named on 3 December 1912 after a pumping station (Schöpfwerk) of the first mountain spring water main, built in 1870–1873 to supply the higher parts of Vienna with water. Before that the road was called Inzersdorfer Weg. Today the name also belongs to the Am Schöpfwerk housing estate beside the station.
