Named after the sculptor Joseph Klieber.
The lane was named on 12 August 1879 after Joseph Klieber (1773–1850), a sculptor and painter born at Ambras Castle in Tyrol. From 1815 to 1845 he directed the engraving school of the Academy of Fine Arts, and he was one of the sculptors who shaped the look of Vienna before 1848.
