Löwengasse

Landstraße

Named after an old house sign, ‘Zum goldenen Löwen’ – the Golden Lion.

The lane already existed around 1700 as an important through road. Around 1800 one section was named after the sign of the house ‘Zum goldenen Löwen’ at No. 29, mentioned as early as 1765; the rest, called Kirchengasse, was added around 1862. The Hundertwasserhaus stands at Nos. 41–43.
