Named after Fehrbelliner Platz, which recalls the Battle of Fehrbellin in 1675.
At Fehrbellin, about 60 km north-west of Berlin, the troops of the Great Elector forced a Swedish invasion army to retreat from the Mark Brandenburg. After Wilmersdorf became part of Greater Berlin in 1920, large administrative buildings went up around the square, and after the city was divided it became a West Berlin administrative centre with up to 15,000 employees.
