Named after Frohnau, a garden city founded in 1910.
Frohnau was built from 1908 on forest land by the Berliner Terrain-Centrale, founded by Prince Guido Henckel von Donnersmarck, as a garden city around the new station; even the name Frohnau was chosen through a competition. The station opened on 1 May 1910 and the garden city was inaugurated six days later. Until 1938 the station was called Frohnau (Mark).
