Named after Genslerstraße, which honours Albert Gensler, a Hohenschönhausen councillor.
Albert Gensler (1866–1944) was a member of the Hohenschönhausen municipal council; the street got his name in 1920. From May 1945 to October 1946 the Soviet NKVD ran Special Camp No. 3 here, then a Soviet remand prison; in 1951 the site passed to the Stasi. After 1990 it became a memorial.
