Named after the Oderbruch, a lowland landscape on the Oder in Brandenburg.
‘Bruch’ here means wetland: the Oderbruch was a periodically flooded river plain until it was drained in the 18th century. The street was named in 1911. It once ran straight to Lichtenberger Straße but was shortened in the late 1940s, when the Volkspark Prenzlauer Berg was heaped up from war rubble.
