Named after Euston Square, laid out in the 1810s and named after Euston Hall in Suffolk.
The hall was the ancestral home of the Dukes of Grafton, the main landowners in the area in the mid-19th century. The village of Euston appears in the Domesday Book of 1086; its name may come from 'Efe's tun', a farmstead belonging to a man called Efe. The station opened in 1863 as Gower Street and was renamed in 1909.
