Annadale

Staten Island

Named after Anna Seguine, of a local family of Huguenot descent.

The neighbourhood received its name around 1860; the station opened in May of that year. Anna Seguine was a descendant of French Huguenots, who were among the South Shore’s earliest settlers and also gave neighbouring Huguenot its name. The Seguine family is remembered too in Seguine Avenue, the main north–south road on the east side of Prince’s Bay.
