Named after the square Aimé-Césaire nearby, which honours the poet from Martinique.
During planning the station was called Pont de Stains. It took the name of the square, opened in 2008, which honours Aimé Césaire (1913–2008), poet and politician. Extracts from his work are printed on a glass fresco on the station's façade. It opened in 2022.
