Place Monge

Paris 5e

Named after the place and rue Monge, which honour the mathematician Gaspard Monge (1746–1818).

Monge was one of the founders of the École polytechnique. The station is subtitled Jardin des Plantes – Arènes de Lutèce, after the botanical garden and the Roman amphitheatre close by. It opened in 1930.
