Named after the place du Trocadéro, which recalls the Battle of the Trocadero.
The Trocadero was a fort near Cádiz in Spain, taken by French troops in 1823. The name was also given to the palace built for the 1878 World's Fair, later replaced by the Palais de Chaillot. The station is subtitled Tour Eiffel. It opened in 1900.
