Named after Eastern Parkway and the Brooklyn Museum beside the station.
The station was to be called Institute Park, but just before it opened the Brooklyn Institute of Arts and Sciences, of which the museum was then part, asked for ‘Brooklyn Museum’ as a better guide. An order of 3 March 1920 set the double name. The parkway, designed by Olmsted and Vaux, was a planned Sackett Street until its renaming in 1868.
