Named after Corentin Celton (1901–1943), a hospital worker and Resistance fighter.
The station opened in 1934 as Petits Ménages, after the hospice nearby. In 1945 the hospice was renamed after Celton, one of its employees, who was shot by the Nazis at Mont-Valérien, and the station followed on 15 October 1945.
